Natural way to unclog a sink

So remember a little while back when I was bumming about using Drano because I couldn't find a more natural way to unclog the sink.... Well, we might now have a way thanks to L.A. @ The Perfect Thyme who has the following suggestion:

"Pour about a cup of baking soda in the drain and follow with a cup of vinegar. For bad clog's it may take two or three tries.

We had a bad hair clog in our bathroom sink a few weeks ago and I didn't think this would work but after two times it did bring the clog up to the service so we could remove."
I'll try this next time we have a leak and let you know if it works...although i seem to recall that this is also how you make a volcano!

Yes, it is how you make a volcano...LOL...it does bubble up some but as long as you don't use more than a cup or so the explosion is mild.

Vinegar and baking soda is totally the toxin free way to go. After the fizzy fun has subsided, I finish it up by pouring a kettle full of boiling water down the drain. As mentioned, sometimes it takes a few tries but it always works for me. Strange as it may sound, crushed egg shells works well too.
Yay for chemical free cleaning!
